FFA Week activities are this week at Houston High School.

Every year, 540,379 people all look forward to FFA Week of Feb. 16 through 22. This is a special week for blue and gold members all over the nation. It is the National FFA Week. The kids enjoy dressing up, competing in contests and just letting their community know what the FFA is all about.

For the 2012-2013 FFA Week, there are a lot of events planned at Houston. On Saturday, Feb. 16, members will hold a community breakfast from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Houston High School cafeteria. There will be a variety of eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and so on. Members would like to welcome everyone to come eat with the chapter. The food will be free, but donations are always welcome.

The chapter will attend church at Ellis Prairie on Feb. 17, and the public is welcome to attend that as well. There will be no school in session on that Monday due to Presidents’ Day.

Tuesday, Feb. 19, members will have an eighth-grade activity where members will take local students into the agriculture shop and build a project. Tuesday will also be Logo Day to show off a favorite tractor or anything else in the agriculture industry.

Wednesday, Feb. 20, will be Camouflage/Hunter Orange Day.

Thursday, Feb. 21, will be Blue and Gold Day, so wear FFA colors proudly. Thursday night will be the monthly FFA meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend; the meeting will be called into session at 3:30 p.m. after school.

On Friday, Feb. 22, members will dress like cowboys, cowgirls and Indians, and you can also pay $1 to wear a hat. Members will have a pizza party, and at 6 p.m the public can come to the high school cafeteria to enjoy a free supper consisting of chili.

A labor auction will be held following the meal. Houston FFA members will be auctioned off, and the bidder will decide when the member will be working and what he/she will be doing. Each member will be working for four hours. If enough money is raised, there will be an auction of some of the school staff. Members hopes everyone can come and participate.
