Military veteran

Dean W. Fessler, 82, of Mountain Grove, died Saturday, March 2, at his home.

He was born Nov. 4, 1930, near Garnett, Kan., son of Will and Leona Edwards Fessler.

He grew up on a farm near Garnett, Kan. He attended a country grade school and graduated from Garnett High School in 1948.

He joined the Army in 1950 and served in Korea. He then worked in the Laborers Union in mining and utility work for 33 years. He retired to live in Texas, where he had a fruit and vegetable delivery route. He later moved to Mountain Grove to be near his son, Jim.

He loved farming and growing large gardens. He enjoyed sharing his produce with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors four children, Larry Fessler, Carol Moore, James Fessler and Dean Fessler, Jr.; and a sister, Lois Miller.

A celebration of life will be held by his family at a later date.
