The single-copy price of the Herald increased this week, the first in 12 years.

The Herald is increasing its single-copy price from 75 cents to $1 beginning with today’s March 7 issue.

The increase is the first in 12 years, when the newsstand price went up by a quarter.

The price increase — which moves toward what has become an industry standard of $1 or more — is driven by higher production costs incurred over more than a decade, including a jump in newsprint prices.

Single-copy purchasers can save $18 annually by becoming a subscriber. A form is available at houstonherald.com/subscribe. The cost is $34 annually for an in-county subscription to the Herald.
