Jay Silas Willard Osborne, 76, died Sunday, March 3, 2013, at his home in Licking following a long battle with cancer.
He was born July 26, 1936, near Freemont, son of Thomas Winston and Beulah Ina Weaver Osborne. He and Alta Davidson Osborne were married Sept. 1, 1953.
Beginning in 1953, he worked alongside his father in the Carpenters Union #2298 of greater St. Louis. After completing his apprenticeship to journeyman training, he moved to Colorado trade. After a few years, he moved back to Missouri and continued his trade as a carpenter. He retired in 1994 after a 36-year career as a union carpenter. He then worked as an independent contractor in and around the Licking community until 2009, when his battle with cancer began.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Beth Ann; and three siblings, Kay, Joann and Ivan.
Survivors include his wife, Alta, of the home; four children, Greg of Springfield, Joni Scott, Lori Held and Rodney Osborne of Licking; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren,.
Service were Wednesday, March 6, at Licking Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastors David Jett and Jerry Dodson officiating. Burial was in Licking Cemetery under direction of Fox Funeral Home.
