Maretta Collins

Maretta “Rita” Gay Pearcy Hutsell-Collins, 72, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at her home in Houston.

She was born June 30, 1949, in Upton, daughter of Charley and Lura Knight Pearcy. She and Ervin Riley Hutsell were married May 11, 1956.

She grew up in the Upton community. She attended Prairie Point Grade School and two years at Houston High School. She completed her GED and also completed courses to be certified in business management. She worked as a restaurant manager in Texas and Florida.

She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Ervin; her husband, Ervin; and her parents.

Survivors include daughters, Sue McClain of Florida and Luritta Baker and Deanna MacNaughton of Houston; an adopted son, Bruce Batchelor of Houston; seven grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Alvina Biram of Licking and Roxie McGowen of Houston; a brother, Rex Pearcy of Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.

She loved working crossword puzzles, watching TV and visiting with her family. She loved her puppy, Misty Lea.

The family will have a private memorial at a later date.
