William “Bill” Junior Smith, 50, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at his home in San Antonio, Texas.
He was born July 1, 1942, in Hartville, son of Hubert “Dick” and Ruth Smith.
Much of hisearly life included extensive construction management projects: a home development based in Bonne Terre, a refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas, a coal gasification plant in Secunda, South Africa, and the centrifuge on Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
He was active in many groups, including the EAA, NRA and ARRL. One of his favorite hobbies was participating in amateur radio with the call sign of WB5WIC.
In 1984, he took over an aircraft tool calibration and repair company and expanded the business into what is now The Cal Lab. He operated this business until his passing.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Constance House Smith, of Flat River; a son Jeffrey; three daughters, Lorana, Cayla and Marie; three granddaughters; and a sister, Carol Vasseur.
Memorial services are Saturday, March 9, at Meadowlawn Tribute Center in San Antonio, Texas.
