A panel is developing a long-range plan for needs in Houston.

The opinions of Houston residents are sought as the community charts a long-term plan for the town’s future.

The public meeting is 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at the Houston Storm Shelter at First and Pine streets in Houston.

Input is sought on a several matters, including:

•Thoughts on recreation.

•Job expansion.

•Development of a community center.

•Educational needs, vocational and college opportunities.

•Health services, including hospital and other needs.

•Housing, rental and single-family homes.

Houston residents were last surveyed in a written questionnaire in 2010. The most recent input will be incorporated into the earlier opinion data.

Former Houston Mayor Steve Hutheson leads the planning committee, which hopes to complete its work during the next 60 days.
