The Missouri State Highway Patrol on April 24 arrested a Mountain Grove man who had in March pretended to be his brother while being arrested on drug charges.
Patrol officials said on March 16 a man was arrested in Texas County on charges of felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.
The man presented the arresting officer with identification indicating he was Colt J. Lambert, 19 of Mountain Grove. But authorities said the officer was suspicious when the photo on the ID didn’t fully resemble the man being arrested, and he subsequently did some follow up work.
That follow-up led to information provided by a relative that the suspect was in reality Colt’s brother, Zachariah Y. Lambert, 23, also of Mountain Grove. He was arrested April 24 on a Wright County warrant for felony possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession and identity theft.
Zachariah Lambert was taken to the Wright County Jail, and last week was released on bond.
