Kim Jordan, a registered nurse in the surgery department at Texas County Memorial Hospital, draws the blood of Evelyn Turner of Hartshorn during Intercounty Electric Cooperative's annual membership picnic and meeting Friday in Licking. Turner was one of 186 people who participated in health screenings available to members.

Intercounty Electric Cooperative Association members will elect directors and hear updates at the annual meeting today at the Licking City Park.

Registration runs 8 a.m. to noon. Members are to bring the registration portion —the entire back cover — of their registration book to pick up their registration gift and drawing ticket.

One board member will be elected from the north, central and south districts.

• James White, St. James, and current board president, is running for reelection from the north district. He is being challenged by Dan Cartwright, Rolla.

• Keith Steelman, Salem, and Matt Duncan, Licking, are running in the central district. Either Steelman or Duncan will replace Hal Dandridge, who is retiring after 25 years.

• Richard Ichord III, Houston, incumbent, is running unopposed from the south district.

Members will be given the stub from their registration card and will exchange it for a ballot when polls open.

Voting can also be done by proxy or by mail. Written requests for a ballot by mail can be sent to Intercounty Electric Association, P.O Box 209, Licking, Mo., 65542. They must be received by 10 a.m. June 28. Voting will start after the business meeting.

The business meeting starts at 10 a.m. with an invocation by Dr. James Miller, Abounding Hope Church, Licking. The Mountain Grove ROTC will post the colors. The national anthem and Pledge of Allegiance will be performed by the Heritage Boys, a local trio. Licking Mayor Linda Miller will welcome attendees.

The board president, general manager and secretary-treasurer will provide updates.

David Klindt, vice president of Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives, is the guest speaker and will present an update on legislative issues impacting the coop and discuss the importance of member involvement.

Prize drawings will be held throughout the day. The grand prize is a $500 electric credit. That will be awarded at 9:45 a.m.
