Tennie Holmes Hendrickson, 93, died Friday, June 7, 2013, at Houston House.
She was born July 24, 1919, in Shirley, Ark., daughter of John Welk and Carrie Eldoro Gilmore Holmes. She married Herchel Hendrickson.
As a young child, she worked in the cotton fields with her father and siblings she also worked in the orchards.
While her husband served in WWII and was a POW for three years, she worked in the orchards as a migrant worker to raise her children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Mary; and 10 siblings.
Survivors include a son, Sherman Hendrickson; three grandchildren; and many other family members.
She loved tending to her garden and sharing vegetables with friends and family.
Private family services were Monday, June 10, in Pine Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
