THELMA STALLCUP

Thelma “Sim” Norene Stallcup, 94, died Friday, May 31, 2013, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 27, 1918, in Upton, daughter of Lewis Edward and Sarah Ethel Carter Campbell. She and John Stallcup were married Feb. 8, 1936, in Houston.

She was raised in the Upton community and attended Pleasant Ridge School and Houston High School.

She and her husband, John, made their home in Dykes before moving to Washington. When he battled in WWII, she and her four children moved to Bucyrus to be closer to her parents.

She attended church at Hickory Ridge Church and Peace Chapel. She played the piano and organ and also sang.

She loved working with her hands. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting and doing puzzles. She made many of her children’s clothes when they were young. She made many doilies, afghans and quilts for her family members. Each grandchild received an afghan when they graduated high school.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Earl Campbell; and two sisters, Grace Ragain and Gladys Williamson.

Survivors include her husband of 77 years, John, of the home; two sons, Ronald Stallcup of Vandalia and Jerry Stallcup of Bucyrus; two daughters, Karen Gallucci of North Canton, Ohio, and Rita Alvarado of Holt; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren. and nine great-great grandchildren.

Services were Wednesday, June 5, at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Russell Kane officiating. Burial was in Hickory Ridge Cemetery.
