The following reports were generated last week by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department.
•A deputy investigated a report at 5:10 p.m. July 15 that two female residents of a Country Aire Lane trailer park in Cabool had seen a suspicious man dressed entirely in black in the woods near their homes. The officer was unable to locate the man.
•A 32-year-old Mountain Grove woman reported on July 20 that her cat had been shot at her Sunshine Street residence.
The woman told an investigating officer that the neighbor’s daughter had told her son she was going to shoot the cat. The officer made contact with the neighbors, who said nobody there had shot the cat. Investigation of the matter continues.
•On July 19, an officer investigated a report of an intoxicated woman with two small children at the Buck Hollow river access. The officer made contact with the woman, who stated she was with her mother and was going to the hospital due to a cut in her foot. She told the officer she wasn’t drunk.
•An officer investigated a report July 16 at about midnight of shots fired at a Country Aire Lane trailer park at Cabool. The officer was told by people at the location that the sound had come from bottle rockets.
•An officer was dispatched at 7:15 p.m. July 2 regarding a domestic dispute at a Country Aire Lane trailer park at Cabool. The man and woman involved – both age 25 – told the officer they had reconciled and didn’t want to pursue charges.
•In a supplemental report regarding an investigation of an ATV stolen from a 50-year-old Mountain Grove man’s Macedonia Road residence, an officer stated that two male suspects had been identified – one 19 and the other 17 – both of Mountain Grove.
The pair was apprehended on other charges by authorities in Douglas County, and the ATV was found to be in their possession.
Probable cause statements were to be sent to the Texas County prosecuting attorney.
•A 27-year-old Houston man reported on July 15 that his home at a Northview Lane trailer park had been burglarized. The man told an investigating officer that swiped goods included an air conditioner valued at $120, a DVD player, a couple of fans and some kids belongings.
The man stated that a woman had allegedly witnessed the theft. The officer was to schedule a meeting with the potential witness.
•A 36-year-old woman incarcerated at the Texas County Jail reported on July 11 that while she was in jail a 1983 Ford Ranger valued at $1,000 had been stolen from her Colburn Road residence at Cabool. A jailer reportedly told an investigating officer that the woman had been contacted by her father on the jail phone and he had stated the truck was missing.
•A deputy was dispatched at about 10:10 p.m. July 13 to a Stone Ridge Road residence at Mountain Grove regarding shots fired. A man living there told the officer he wasn’t aware of anyone shooting a gun, and the officer was unable to locate a shooter.
•An officer investigated a report on July 14 of a man in a tree on Highway AM. The officer made contact with the man and determined no crime had been committed.
•A 68-year-old Houston man reported on July 14 that a white 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe had been stolen from his Sunset Drive property.
The man told an investigating officer that the vehicle had been brought to his repair shop in Houston and that $2,500 worth of work had been done to it. He stated he had hidden the SUV on his property because he didn’t want the owner to get it back, and that it had been there for about a year.
The man stated he didn’t know who the vehicle belonged to. The officer canvassed the neighborhood for information, and was told by a neighbor that a roll back tow truck had come onto the man’s property and left with the Tahoe.
•An officer was dispatched to a Northview Lane trailer park at about 5:40 p.m. July 14 regarding a fight between two women. The officer made contact with the combatants – one 51 and the other 40 – who both stated they had been physically assaulted by the other. A report of the incident was sent to the county prosecutor.
•Elizabeth A. Jackson, 34, of 1240 W. Chestnut St. in Houston, was issued a citation for no proof of insurance after a traffic stop July 14 on Highway 17 at Ridge Road.
•A 72-year old Licking man reported on July 16 that several items had been stolen from a Plum Valley Drive rental property.
The man said swiped goods included a refrigerator, dryer and washing machine, each valued at $200, and a basketball goal valued at $75. He stated he suspected a man and woman who had been living here and had been evicted.
•Deputies were dispatched at 5:50 p.m. July 18 to investigate remains in a bag on the side of Fox Run Drive in Licking. They were determined to be that of a dog in advanced stages of decomposition.
•On July 18 at 8 p.m., a resident of a Country Aire Lane trailer park at Cabool reported a Bassett hound being a nuisance. An officer made contact with the woman who owns the dog, and she took it back to her residence.
