SIMONE LEOHMANN

Simone (Somprou) Leohmann, 88, the daughter of Jean-Paul Baptiste and Germaine (Gaultier) Somprou ,was born Sept. 27, 1924, in Paris, France. She passed away July 12, 2013, at Willow Healthcare Nursing Home in Willow Springs, Mo.

Simone was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pierre; her daughter, Micheline Johnson; one brother, Charles Somprou; a daughter-in-law, Donna Leohmann; a grandson-in-law, Justin Wilson; and granddaughter-in-law, Diane Johnson.

She is survived by three sons, Jean-Pierre (Tina) of Mena, Ark., Allen of Raymondville, Mo., and Jean-Claude (Deborah) of New Bern, N.C.; two brothers, Roger and Jeannot Somprou of Paris, France; 12 grandchildren, Wade and Bruce Parks, Nicholas Johnson, Alexandra Wilson, Lalania Cobb, Waylon Leohmann, Vallorie Chamberlain, Eric Leohmann, Bobby, Angie, Cissy and Toni Leohmann; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Simone grew up in Paris, France, and married the love of her life Jan. 26, 1946. To this union four children were born, one daughter and three sons. Simone moved to the United States with her husband and children in 1957.

Simone dedicated her life to her family, not only raising her own children and helping to raise her grandchildren, but to fostering other children who were in need of caretaking. She worked tirelessly to ensure that her family’s needs were met. She took pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren and enjoyed knowing that her hard work had helped to shape the people that they had become.

Simone enjoyed reading, working on puzzles, knitting and crocheting gifts for her family members, and spending time with her family. She enjoyed creating sweaters for her grandchildren as they were growing up, and blankets for her great-grandchildren when they were born. She enjoyed the simple things in life and loved cooking for her family and telling them stories about her childhood in France.

Simone will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

No services are planned at this time. Cremation was under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
