Texas County Memorial Hospital is seeking additional volunteers to serve as the information desk greeter and assisting residents with directions in the building.

“With the addition of our new front entrance and our second floor medical surgical department, we need additional staff members that can direct patients, visitors and vendors that come to the hospital,” April Steele, administrative secretary and liaison with the TCMH Auxiliary, explained.

Steele has been coordinating the staffing of these desks with auxiliary volunteers and Youth Ambassador volunteers.

“The Youth Ambassadors are going back to school, so we have additional needs for volunteers to greet patients and visitors during the morning and early afternoon hours,” Steele said.

Steele is seeking volunteers who are able to acquaint themselves with the many staff members and departments at the hospital to provide directions as needed.

“TCMH is seeking volunteers with a positive attitude and cheerful demeanor,” Steele explained.

In addition to staffing the informational desks, the TCMH Auxiliary has a gift shop that is open throughout the day and on weekends. Volunteers also staff the TCMH Gift Shop that is open throughout the week.

“The auxiliary gift shop has added Sunday hours,” Steele said, adding that Sundays are a high-volume time for visitors to come to the hospital.

“I hope that some able-bodied, retired men and women that have free time during the day will be able to join our volunteer ranks for a few hours each month,” Steele said.

She is available to discuss volunteer opportunities at the hospital. Applications are available in the TCMH administration office.
