The Houston School District will introduce an online payment system for students, board members heard at Tuesday’s monthly meeting.
The board approved creating a separate checking account with Progressive Ozark Bank for the payments. The system will be tested with faculty accounts before it is made available to the public.
Through the new system, online payments will be available for school lunches and other necessary items.

Were updated on the progress of new construction related to the April bond issue from Superintendent Scott Dill. The district is accepting bids for roof work. A pre-bid meeting is 2 p.m. Sept. 24, and the bids will be opened Oct. 8.
–Promoted Julee Chipps from assistant to head coach of the middle school volleyball program. Members also employed John Coussons as the assistant coach for the remainder of the school year.
–Employed Lonnie Lee as a bus driver for the remainder of the school year.
–Received a presentation from Roger Brallier, assistant principal at the elementary school, containing assessment information and plans for moving the district forward.
–Recognized and congratulated the Houston High School choir, which under the direction of Beth Williamson performed at the Missouri State Fair.
The next school board meeting is 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the Exceptional Child Cooperative.
