Fern Miller, 87, of Cabool, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains.
She was born May 11, 1926, in Solo, daughter of Gilford and Mary Brown. She and Jesse Miller were married June 1, 1946, in Gerard, Kan. He died May 18, 1987.
She was the seventh of 13 children. She was raised on the farm and had many chores. At age 14, she began cooking three meals a day for the family.
She was a cook at Midwest, El Rancho, Cabool Senior Center, Cabool Schools and Cabool Nursing Home for many years. She retired at age 75.
At age 13, Fern accepted Christ as her Savior during a revival at Newel Church. She was baptized in Hog Creek behind the church. She was a Sunday school teacher and program coordinator for many years at Faith and Hope. Later she moved her membership to Mt. Pisgah.
Services were Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home with the Rev. David Carroll officiating. Burial was in the Miller Cemetery near Elk Creek.
