ETHEL RASMUSSEN

Ethel Loretta Barratt Rasmussen, 96, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2013.

She was born Aug. 2, 1917, in Harlan, Iowa, daughter of George and Bertha Sorenson Barrett. She and George Chester Rasmussen were married June 25, 1939.

She attended school through the eighth grade before working several years as a housemaid, cook, babysitter and cleaner.

She enjoyed singing, piano playing, cooking, gardening, water and oil painting, poetry and writing with her friends and family. She also liked working crossword puzzles, visiting the dollar stores and a good cup of black coffee with a hot cinnamon roll.

She accepted the Lord as her Savior at a young age.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, George; a daughter, Cathy; and a grandson.

Survivors include five children, Clark Rasmussen of Arkansas, Judy Gross and Dorthy Best of California, Norene Perkins and Carlton Golden of Texas and Robert Rasmussen of Missouri; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.

Services were Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Ozark Baptist Church with Pastor David Barbee officiating. Burial was in Ozark Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
