Military veteran

Gerald E. “Jerry” Marsh, 89, of Centerville, Ind., passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014.

He was born Oct. 25, 1924, in Phelps County, son of George E. and Dora May Baker Marsh. He and Wanda L. Gabel were married Dec. 16, 1950, at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Phelps County. She passed away Sept. 24, 2012.

He attended Missouri School of Mines in Rolla and took some college courses. He was a sergeant in the Air Force during W.W. II.

He was a maintenance supervisor at Chrysler Corp. in New Castle, Ind., until he retired in 1980.

He enjoyed tinkering with engines, woodworking, fishing, deer hunting, traveling, dominos, puzzles and southern gospel music. He was a member of the Southern Baptist faith and most recently attended Plymouth Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Survivors include a son, Terry L. Marsh of Cumming, Ga.; a daughter Melodie M. Overmyer of Culver, Ind.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Mary Heavin of Licking.

Services were Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Fox Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Gorman officiating. Burial will be in Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens in Rolla.
