Lyle Dean Mason, Sr., 82, of Royse City, Texas, passed away at 10:55 a.m. on Jan. 22, 2014, at his home. He was born to Fred and Mabel (Bates) Mason on July 19, 1931, in Success, Mo.

On March 7, 1953, Lyle married the love of his life, Doris L. Fogerson Mason. To this union two children were born, Lyle D. Mason, Jr. and Vicki Lynn Mason Hart.

He is survived by his wife, Doris of the home; his son, Lyle D. Mason, Jr. and wife, Katherine Ann, of Rowlett, Texas; his daughter, Vicki Lynn Mason Hart and husband, “J.K.,” of York, Pa.; 10 grandchildren, Misti Mason Tucker and husband Stephen, Cara Mason Schmidt and husband Justin, Jami Mason Elrod and husband Jason, Jessa Mason, Amber Hart Hooper and husband Brad, Alyssa Clift, Ashlyn Clift, Aliyah Clift, Alivia Clift, and Dylan Hart and wife Kristin; five great-grandchildren, Emory and Levi Tucker, Riley Jo and Sadie Kay Schmidt, and Gage Hart; three step great-grandchildren, Nicole and Cole Hooper, and Emily Honeycutt; and five brothers and sisters, Fred Mason II, Doyle Mason, Ruth Shorter, Doris Mason and Delores Russell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mabel Mason; and three siblings, Eunice Mason, Leslie Mason and Lulu Mason.

Lyle was saved in March of 1958 and baptized at First Baptist Church of Lockwood, Mo. Lyle worked as a truck driver, manager of the grain elevator at Lockwood & Vandalia and manager of MFA Feed & Grocery in Houston, Mo. He also worked at OK Tire and Neil’s Tire, leading to his ownership and operation of Lyle Mason Tire for 16 years.

Lyle loved to play golf and during his retirement you would be sure to find him on the golf course enjoying the game and time with friends. Lyle also enjoyed reading his Bible, singing and listening to gospel music and playing with his great-grandchildren.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services were 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Villapiano officiating. Burial was in Pine Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dylan Hart, J.K Hart, Brad Hooper, Mike Sparks, Devin Hart and Ron Frey. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
