MARJORIE RICHARDS

Marjorie Jean Claussen Richards, 82, passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, following a short illness.

She was born July 5, 1931, in Rogersville, daughter of George and Niviae Claussen.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior as a young woman.

She loved flowers. She enjoyed transplanting roses, peonies, begonias and “grandma’s moss” from her mother’s flowerbeds. Looking through pattern books and making quilts were a favorite pastime.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Richards; her parents; a son, Danny Eugene Cardwell on Nov. 27, 2013; and 16 siblings.

Survivors include three children, Melody Rebenstorf and Mikel Cardwell of Wichita, Kan., and Debra Short of Mishawaka, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were Friday, Jan. 3, at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield with Thomas “Jeff” Short officiating. Cremation followed. Inurnment was in Eastlawn Cemetery in Springfield.

Services were under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
