MILDRED JAMES 

Mildred Pearcy Roderick James, 84, daughter of Johnie and Maggie (Stilley) Pearcy, was born June 27, 1929 at Roubidoux, Mo. She passed away on Jan. 22, 2014, in Houston, Mo.

She lived most of her life in the Texas County area. She graduated from Houston High School in 1948, attended SMS and taught four years in one-room schools.

She married Leslie J. Roderick in 1950 and to this union three sons were born.

Mildred worked for the Division of Family Services seven years and a bookkeeper for 19 years. She owned and operated Mildred’s Fashion Shop in Houston. She served on the Houston Housing Board and Houston Senior Citizens Board several years.

Mildred accepted Christ early in life and is a member of Northside Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School over 40 years and held many other offices in church. She loved her Lord and was very unhappy when she had to quit working in church due to health problems.

In 1976, she married Gerald James. Mildred was the happiest when her family was around her. She loved to make quilts and made at least one for all her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie; her parents; a daughter-in-law, Betty Roderick; grandson, Will Pace; brother, Ray Pearcy; sister, Maxine Brown; and brother-in-law, Loman Gaddis.

Mildred is survived by her husband, Gerald; three sons, Mike Roderick and wife, Peggy, of Blue Springs, Mo., Phillip Roderick and wife, Amy, of Jefferson City, Mo., and Danny Roderick and wife, Rosemary, of Pittsburgh, Penn.; a step-daughter, Debbie Binkley and husband, Bill, of Seymour, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joyce Campbell and Norma Pearcy of Houston, Mo., and Sue Gaddis of Lake Winnebago, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Services were 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, atthe Evans Funeral Home with Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial was in Hickory Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chris Roderick, Shawn Roderick, Will Roderick, Jared Roderick, Matt Roderick, Grant Binkley and Dempsey Pace. Honorary pallbearers were Lori Pace, Jana Baker, Arden Roderick, Lexie Binkley, Mallory Roderick and Braeden Baker.
