Earnest Clayton Atterberry, 73, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014, at his home near Lynchburg.

He was born Nov. 6, 1940, near Bloodland, son of Floyd and Pearl Bowling Atterberry. He and Vera Maye Robinett were married Dec. 25, 1964

He grew up in the Buckhorn/Laquey area, where he loved hunting and exploring with his brothers. At a young age he was baptized and was a member of the Buckhorn Baptist Church. Later in life he attended Embree Church until his health began to fail.

He entered the Army in August 1964 and was honorably discharged in August 1966.

He raised his family on a small farm south of Lynchburg. He worked in the timber industry for most of his life, driving log trucks, cutting timber and running his own logging business. The last several years he logged for his brother Albert.

He enjoyed farming, being outdoors, reading western novels, watching western movies and spending time with his wife and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Leon Atterberry; and a sister, Roberta Biram.

Survivors include his wife, Vera; two daughters, Anita Munyon of Cane Hill, Ark., and Lisa Supancic of Lynchburg; a son, Donald Atterberry of Lynchburg; five grandchildren; two brothers, Albert Atterberry of Richland and Jack Atterberry of Conway; two sisters, Joanne Walzak of Chesterton, Ind., and Shirley Lipe of Raymond, Ill.; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Services were Monday, April 21, at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roger Flint and the Rev. Wade Perryman officiating. Burial with full military honors was in Dutch Chapel Cemetery.
