Gerald Brown

Gerald Arthur Brown, 81, son of Gilford Steven Brown and Mary Aldridge Brown, was born Dec. 5, 1932, near Elk Creek. He died May 3rd, 2014, at his home.

He graduated from Houston High School in 1952 and served in the United States Army following his graduation. Gerald was a small arms instructor in Germany and will be buried with full military honors. Gerald and Rita were members of the Ozark Baptist Church.

Gerald spent his adult life working for the Missouri Department of Transportation and the last several years before his retirement he was an area supervisor.

After his retirement, Gerald spent much of his time hunting, fishing, gigging and frying fish for his buddies. Gerald’s dislike for the River Otter was well known because they competed with him in his favorite fishing holes. Gerald was one of the last from a great generation.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita; six brothers, Paul, Orville, Wade, Roy Dean, Elmer and Delmar; and five sisters, Letha Miller, Jewell Webster, Pearl Yarnell, Fern Miller and Kay.

Surviving is one brother, Dwaine Brown of Rolla Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends that will cherish many happy memories of Gerald.

Services were 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Hamilton officiating. Burial with full military honors was in Pine Lawn Cemetery, Houston, Mo. Serving as pallbearers were James Miller, Orville Brown, Jr., Frank Brown, Terry Brown, Mike Brown and Stan Smith. Services were under the direction of Evans Funeral Home
