The following reports were generated last week by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•Two Texas County Jail inmates were each issued citations for third-degree assault after an incident April 27.

An investigating deputy reported that surveillance cameras showed Bennie Thompson Sr., 45, of 519 N. Grand Ave. in Houston, and Bennie L. Thompson Jr., 20, of 5395 Big Creek Road in Yukon, hitting and kicking a 20-year-old male inmate. The incident reportedly took place after a verbal exchange between Thompson Sr. and the alleged victim.

•A woman called at 1 a.m. May 10 to report seeing what she thought was the arc from a cutting torch at a U.S. 63 propane company. An investigating deputy determined the woman actually saw a flashing light on a propane truck.

•A Houston woman called at 11:10 p.m. May 22 to report she wanted her daughter removed from her Millstone Road residence. When an investigating officer arrived, the daughter was packing her belongings to leave.

•An officer from the probation and parole office in Los Angeles County, Calif., called on May 22 to request.

The officer stated he was looking for a 22-year-old man with a warrant who wasn’t supposed to leave L.A. County. Information was provided and the officer stated he would call again if he needed anything else.

•At about 11 a.m. May 22, a 95-year-old Licking man came to the TCSD office to report that another man (of unknown age or residence) had stolen a GPS unit from his Bean Creek Drive residence.

The man told an investigating officer he was tired of having the other man steal from him and was going to start shooting at him. At that moment, the man reportedly put his hand on a green nylon bag sitting on the chair beside him and started patting it.

He then stated there was a 9mm pistol in the bag. The man and his concealed weapon were immediately removed from the justice center, and he was informed that having a gun in the facility was illegal, as was carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.

The man stated he understood the seriousness of his actions and that it wouldn’t happen again. No charges were filed.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 1 p.m. May 18 regarding a report of a possible burglary at a U.S. 63 residence at Houston.

Upon arrival, the officer reportedly observed a woman with a pistol in her hand pointing it at the house. The officer identified the woman as the caller and advised her to lower the gun.

The officer and the woman then entered the house, and found it to be unoccupied. The woman then stated that nobody had been there for several weeks, but that there was a family dispute about ownership of the land associated with it. Some items were determined to have been swiped, including a computer system and a red tote. Buildings on the property that had sustained visible damage included the house, a barn and a shed.

There are no suspects.

•A Texas County Jail inmate was issued a citation for stealing less than $500 on May 21 after allegedly swiping a can of chewing tobacco from a locker in the justice center garage (a.k.a Sally port).

A jail representative told an investigating deputy that Chad M. Shepard, 35, of 225 N. Main St. in Licking, had stolen it while on a work detail.

•A 50-year-old Cabool man came to the TCSD office on May 19 to report that another 50-year-old Cabool man had been making threats about driving through his Business U.S. 60 residence and burning it down. The man making the complaint was advised to seek a court protection order.

•A deputy was dispatched May 19 to a Highway 137 residence at Yukon regarding a report of a burglary. A 62-year-old man who lives there told the officer an air compresser, generator and a box full of tools had been stolen.

There are no suspects.

•At about 7:30 p.m. May 20, a woman reported a prowler at her Cameron Road residence. When an investigating officer arrived, the woman told him he wasn’t needed because the prowler was actually a neighbor woman walking in her field.
