Plato junior Lexi McNiel finished second in the 1600 and seventh in the 3200 at the MSHSAA track and field championships in Jefferson City.

Plato junior Lexie McNiel was all-state in two events as the state track championships, including a runner-up finish in the 1600 meters.

McNiel ran the approximately one-mile race in 5 minutes, 20.26 seconds to place second at the Missouri State High School Activities Association Class 1 and 2 championships in Jefferson City. Courtney Rodgers of Lutheran St. Peters won the event in 5:00.93 to set a new Class 2 record.

McNiel also placed seventh in the 3200 meters in 11:57.84.

The Plato 4×800 girls’ relay team of Becca Baker, MacKenzie Morrison, Shalyn Barton and Breanne Duprie finished 15th.

The Plato girls finished 26th in the Class 2 girls’ standings. Lutheran St. Charles won the team championship.

Licking junior Blake Heithold earned all-state honors in the high jump by finishing sixth in Class 2. He cleared 6 feet in the finals.

Licking freshman Ashley Ingram was 12th in the high jump on the girls’ side. She cleared 4 feet, 10 inches in the finals.

The Lamar boys defended their Class 2 team championship by finishing 31 points ahead of second-place Liberty.

Liberty’s Jaelon Acklin won the 100 meters and Daylan Quinn, a sophomore, won the 1600 and 3200.
