Both drivers involved in a two-vehicle accident Saturday morning on U.S. 63 north of Highway B in Houston sustained injuries and face charges.
Houston Police Department authorities report the crash occurred just before 8 a.m. when a northbound 1993 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Rebecca Coats, 34, of Houston, crossed the centerline and struck a southbound 2010 Ford Escape driven by Wendy Sullins, 32, of Licking, near the solar powered speed control sign.
The impact caused Coats’ vehicle to go down a steep embankment and overturn.
Coats was issued citations for failure to drive on the right half of the roadway and driving without a valid driver’s license. Sullins was arrested for having an active Taney County warrant for failure to appear.
A glass drug-smoking device was found in the Blazer, and the investigation continues, authorities said.
Authorities stated Coats and Sullins were both taken by ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital for treatment of unreported injuries. Personnel from the City of Houston and Houston Rural fire departments also responded to the scene.
