Authorities discovered three broken windows Tuesday on an airplane at the Houston airport that they believe are related to a weekend vandalism spree.
Houston Police Chief Jim McNiell said his department is still seeking information about the crimes, which included damage to seven car windows and windshields and yard lights at two homes.
Sandstone rocks were thrown through the vehicle windows, McNiell said. A concrete block was used on the plane. It will still at the scene when the vandalism was discovered Tuesday.
Sgt. Tim Ceplina said police were alerted to the incidents Sunday. The crimes occurred on several streets in Houston’s central residential area, including Charles Street, Chestnut Street, King Street, Frederick Avenue, John Street and Quaker Avenue, as well as one on the outskirts, Cleveland Road.
Ceplina said all the damaged vehicles were parked alongside roadways, not in driveways, and that the spree likely occurred Saturday night between 10:30 p.m. and midnight.
“I’d recommend to people to pull as far off the roadway as possible,” he said. “I don’t think anyone specific was being targeted –– I think it was just random acts of vandalism.”
Ceplina said there are no suspects yet. Information and tips – including anonymous ones – are sought by police.
“If anyone has any information please call us,” Ceplina said. “That’s a lot of victims, and I’m going to charge everyone who was involved.”
