The annual “Drive 4UR School” fundraiser took place Oct. 4 at Romines Motor Co. in Houston, and the event once again raised $6,000 to benefit Houston High School.
Each year, Ford and Lincoln dealerships around the U.S. team up with local high schools to conduct test-drive fundraising events, and for every valid test-drive completed, Ford Motor Co. donates $20 to the participating high school, up to a maximum of $6,000. Participating for the fourth time, Romines recorded 300 test-drives and hit the highest possible mark for the second consecutive year.
In four Drive 4UR School events, Romines has raised a total of $22,230 for HHS.
Proceeds from this year’s event will be used to purchase new benches and outside tables for students to use in the outside commons area between the cafeteria and middle school. Once construction is complete, this area will be used as a place for students to gather before school and at lunchtime. Past funds have gone toward helping update the school’s security system, adding air conditioning to Hiett Gymnasium and purchasing e-readers for the high school library.
