A Christmas drive to aid children in Texas County is underway.

The annual Christmas drive that helps brighten the season for deserving children in the county begins today.

“Share Your Christmas” involves numerous organizations, businesses and individuals joining to help those less fortunate. This year’s headquarters is in the basement of the Houston Lions Club den on North U.S. 63. Hours are 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Applications are taken there.

Cases will be outlined in the Houston Herald, which launched the drive 30 years ago to help those in the county who need assistance during the Christmas season. Volunteer Pat Miller is the coordinator. Persons needing information can call Pat Miller at 217-1318, Sara Miller at 217-0391 or Angie Quinlan at 217-6595.

How you can help

•An “Angel Tree” will be situated at Houston Walmart Supercenter on South Sam Houston Blvd. and Untangled on First Street. The needs of various children will be listed on angels. Persons can pick up a list, and “Share Your Christmas” will distribute the donated items.

•Monetary donations can be mailed to “Share Your Christmas,” P.O. Box 170, Houston, Mo. 65483, or they can be dropped by the Houston Herald on Grand Avenue in Houston.
