A Houston man accused of assaulting a local man with a hunting knife and machete is expected to be in court next month for a preliminary hearing, officials said Friday.
Billy Joe Minshall, 37, is held without bond in the Texas County Jail on charges of first-degree assault (serious physical injury) and armed criminal action from a Dec. 7 incident. He is to appear Jan. 5 for a preliminary hearing in Texas County Associate Circuit Court.
Minshall is accused in an incident that authorities said left a local man with serious injuries. The suspect, law enforcement officers said, approached a man with a hunting knife and machete. The victim had multiple wounds to both hands and a wound to his torso that later required surgery at a Springfield hospital.
Minshall was already on probation from an earlier offense that including assaulting a law enforcement officer.
