Filings close Tuesday, Jan. 20, for a variety of elected posts for school, city, water and township boards.
The election is April 7.
Here’s a look at the latest filings:
A Houston woman has filed for a seat on the Houston board of education.
Stacie Ely filed last Wednesday for a three-year seat. Dustin Smith declared his candidacy earlier.
The incumbents are Tadd McCloud and Jim Root.
A race developed last week for the Ward II council spot on the Houston City Council.
Andrew Wells filed Tuesday for the position held by Charles “Chalky” Wells, who completed paperwork earlier.
Declaring last month were: Don Tottingham and Kenton Rhea Yarnall, mayor; David Arthur, Ward III; and Mary Barnes, Ward I.
A Raymondville woman is the latest person to file for the Texas County Health Department board. Aya Katz filed last Wednesday.
Four people submitted candidacy paperwork earlier for two four-year terms on the health department board, including Toni Coomes Moberly, Caiti Burks and Linda Breedlove, all of Licking, and Houston resident Sally Smith, an incumbent. The other incumbent is Dianne Ingalls.
