Billy J. Minshall, 37, of Houston, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault (serious physical injury) and armed criminal action following an incident near Raymondville. He now faces a hearing to send him to prison on other offenses.

A Houston man implicated in multiple felony assault cases over the past two years in Texas County faces a probation revocation hearing today.

In an unrelated case, Billy J. Minshall was ordered to trial Monday in connection with an attack with a knife that left a Raymondville man with serious injuries. Associate Circuit Judge Doug Gaston found probable cause that Minshall committed both felonies he is accused of in the case.

In December 2014, Minshall was charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action after allegedly attacking a man with a knife during an apparent road rage incident at Raymondville.

Early this week, Texas County Prosecuting Attorney Parke Stevens Jr. filed a motion for a hearing at the Justice Center in front of a judge seeking to suspend and revoke Minshall’s probation on a 2013 case.

In the May 2013 case, Minshall, 37, of 8164 Morton Road, was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, possession of drug paraphernalia and second-degree trespassing. Investigating authorities said Minshall claimed there were tanks and snipers surrounding his property and explosives inside his house (in Cabool at the time).

Minshall’s next court date on the knife assault case is a Jan. 13 arraignment hearing.
