The Texas County Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign raised $25,657 during the 2014 holiday season, eclipsing the goal of $20,000.
Salvation Army Representative Bennie Cook said the total was believed to be the highest ever in the county.
“By our records, this is the most money raised by the Texas County Salvation Army,” Cook said. “We definitely appreciate the volunteers and donors who helped achieve this milestone.”
Money raised in the campaign goes toward Back to School Fairs, GED expenses, assisting Texas County Food Pantry clients with transportation issues, utilities, rent and housing assistance and other expenses that help families in need.
