The Texas County Soil and Water Conservation District will hold its annual meeting Thursday, April 16. Registration starts at 5:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church, Houston.

The evening speakers will be Deanna Smith, who will be make a presentation on the upcoming parks, soils and water sales tax that is on the 2016 ballot in 2016. The evening will conclude with the district annual award presentation and yearly update.  Registration by April 9 is required to cover the meal. The Texas County Soil and Water Conservation District is still accepting applications

for a summer internship.  The position is open to any college student enrolled in agriculture, science, natural resources and engineering college courses now and in the upcoming 2015 fall session.  Application deadline is March 31.

The Texas County Soil and Water Conservation District will hold a county-wide senior essay contest.  The topic is: “What Can a Texas County Farmer Do To Improve Their Soil Health?  Any Texas County senior entering the 2015 fall semester in college and will be seeking a degree in the following fields of study is eligible:  Natural resources, agriculture, science and engineering.  Application deadline is March 31.
