Abby Casper contributed to three of the four victories for the Houston High School girls’ track team as they finished third among 14 teams Monday at the Willow Springs Track Relays.

Casper, a sophomore, won the 100- and 200-meter dashes and ran the anchor leg for the 4×400 relay with teammates Tori McCloud, Emily Shea and Jonas Rowland. McCloud had Houston’s other win by topping the field in the 100 hurdles.

The HHS boys were fifth among 11 schools.

McCloud was second and Krista Scott placed third in the 300 hurdles. Shea was third in the shotput and Erica Johnson placed fourth.

The 4×100 relay team of Casper, Scott, Shea and Olivia Woosley finished second. The 4×200 consisting of Shea, Rowland, Woosley and Taylor Harrison.

Noah Moseley (long jump), Evan Richardson (100) and Caleb Adkison (300 hurdles) all had second-place finishes for the Houston boys.

Trenton Best was fourth in the 300 hurdles and Keegan Spurlin placed fifth in the shotput.

Houston’s 4×100 relay of Best, Moseley, Richardson and Adkison finished fourth.

Last Thursday, both Houston teams finished fourth at the Ava Invitational.

Casper had the girls’ lone victory by winning the 100 meters. She was third in the 200.

Scott finished third in both the 100 and 300 hurdles.

The 4×200 relay team of Casper, Shea, Woosley and Rowland were runners-up.

For the boys, Best was third in the 300 hurdles. The 4×100 team of Adkison, Best, Richardson and Ridge Dailey also placed third.

“Our athletes really performed well this meet,” HHS coach Skye Wade said. “They have been training to get better against their own times. Several kids broke their personal records.”
