Lt. Gen. Robert Brown, U. S. Army Combined Arms Center and Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, commanding general, along with Maj. Gen. Leslie Smith and Brig. Gen. Kent Savre, Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood commanding general, conduct inspection of the troops during the change of command and responsibility ceremony.

Brig. Gen. Kent Savre and Command Sgt. Maj. Roy Ward have taken the helm as the new Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood commanding general and command sergeant major.

In a ceremony marking one of the most cherished Army traditions –– passing of the colors and noncommissioned officer’s sword –– Maj. Gen. Leslie Smith and Command Sgt. Maj. Terrence Murphy relinquished responsibility of MSCoE and Fort Leonard Wood to Savre and Ward.

Lt. Gen. Robert Brown, U.S. Army Combined Arms Center and Fort Leavenworth, Kan., commanding general, presided over the change of command and responsibility ceremony.

Brown said that Maj. Gen. Smith is best at building a team, and he has an infectious spirit.

Now, it’s Savre and Ward’s turn. They will have to grab the ruck sack, carry on the initiatives and move forward, Brown said. They proved a long time ago their investment in the Army.

Across the globe, soldiers conduct various missions in defense of the nation. Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear soldiers fight Ebola in Africa; military police soldiers provide detainee operations in Guantanamo Bay and engineer soldiers conduct route clearance in Afghanistan, and they all started (trained) at Fort Leonard Wood, Savre said.

Both Savre and Ward vowed to be steadfast and committed leaders to the MSCoE team and provide the best quality of life for the service members and families serving at Fort Leonard Wood.
