The all-time leading scorer in Missouri high school history is returning to Houston this month to host his basketball camp.
Fred Johnson, who scored 3,552 career points during his career in the 1980s at Wellsville-Middleton, annually hosts basketball camps throughout southern Missouri. He hosted one in Houston last year and is returning in 2015.
The camp, which is Saturday, April 25, inside Hiett Gymnasium, is divided into three sessions. Players in pre-kindergarten through second grade will meet from 9-10:30 a.m. The next session for students in the third-sixth grades is 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. and the final one for seventh and eighth graders is 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Cost is $20 per athlete for the youngest session and $25 per athlete for the other two sessions. Both male and female players are welcome to attend. The price includes a T-shirt.
Concessions will be available throughout the day. Families are encouraged to bring a camera.
To register, contact Brent Kell at 417-207-9045 or bkell@houston.k12.mo.us by April 20.
