Texas County deputies are investigating several crimes in the county.

The following are excerpts of reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•A deputy was dispatched June 27 to Freedom Cemetery on Freedom Road at Willow Springs regarding a report of trash dumped on the property. The officer found the dumpsite and stated it appeared to have been there a long time.

The officer was unable to find anything in the trash that might help identify a suspect.

•A deputy and Licking police officer on June 24 went to a room at the Country Inn at Licking to recover stolen rental property. The officers made contact with a woman there who admitted to having the missing Playstation 4. She was advised that if she returned immediately it to its owner, no charges would be filed.

The item was returned without incident.

•A Cabool woman on June 27 reported that her neighbor’s dogs were on the porch at her Highway U residence.

An investigating officer made contact with the woman’s husband and he inquired about his rights regarding shooting dogs. The officer advised him he had the right to protect himself and property. The officer was unable to make contact with the dogs’ owner.

•A man reported at about 6:15 p.m. June 23 that his neighbors were driving an ATV fast past his Highway BB residence. The neighbors were contacted and advised to stop.

•A deputy responded June 14 to a report of theft at a Dalton Drive residence at Licking. The officer made contact with a 51-year-old man who lives there who said two GPS units had been stolen from inside a tractor-trailer rig parked on the property.

The man stated he had seen a red Chevrolet S-10 pickup in his driveway. There are no suspects.

•A deputy was dispatched June 8 to a Tiffany Lane trailer park at Houston regarding a report of an assault and theft.

A 52-year-old man who lives there told the officer a 37-year-old man who also lives in the trailer park had come to his residence and an argument began, and the younger man had punched him in the face with a fist and swiped his cell phone.

After an investigation, a probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor seeking charges against the alleged assailant.

•A 42-year-old woman reported June 22 that numerous items with a total value of $1,685 had been stolen from a residence she owns on Highway M at Cabool. An investigating officer observed a back door to the residence that had been kicked in.

There are no suspects.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 9:35 p.m. June 20 regarding a report of a fight at a Highway AD residence at Cabool.

The officer made contact with a 59-year-old woman there who said a 38-year-old woman who lives there had assaulted her. The officer reported that the younger woman stated she was defending herself and a witness said the older woman had started the fight.

Investigation of the matter continues.

•A 23-year-old Houston man came to the TCSD office at about 6 p.m. June 22 to report receiving two phone calls from another man stating he wanted to meet at Casey’s General Store on U.S. 63 to fight.

The man who received the calls told an investigating officer the calls might have come from a man who wanted to fight over a woman, but he wasn’t sure because called ID didn’t show the number. Investigation of the matter continues.

•A deputy responded June 25 to a report of unlawful entry at a Brushy Creek Drive residence at Houston.

The officer made contact with a woman who lives there who stated that whenever she leaves her home, someone comes in and moves items around and turns lights on or off. The officer observed nothing missing or broken and no sign of an intruder.

•A deputy assisted a Houston police officer regarding a trespass complaint by the Texas County Health Department at about 10:30 a.m. June 24. The man who was trespassing reportedly left without incident.
