Larry Stephen Goodloe, 67, of Richmond, Mo., and formerly of Lexington, Mo., died Sunday, June 28, 2015, at the North Care Hospice House in North Kansas City, Mo.
Larry was born on July 12, 1947, in Lexington to James and Dorothy (Nuelle) Goodloe. He married Georganne Happy of Richmond on Feb. 2, 1966. They were married for 49 years. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Mona Goodloe of Richmond; one daughter and son-in-law, Allison and Dan Bonnel of Odessa, Mo.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, David Goodloe of Lexington and Kevin and Shelley Goodloe of Alma, Mo; and five grandchildren, Deanna Barger, Josh Goodloe, Jordan Bonnel, Brett Bonnel and Christopher Bonnel.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon Geiger.
Larry was a 1965 graduate of Lexington High School. He received his associate’s degree from Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington. He was an Eagle Scout and Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.
He had a 30-year career in hospital administration, serving hospitals in Lexington, Houston, Branson and Fairfax hospitals, all in Missouri. He had been president of two Missouri Hospital Districts, both in the North West District and the South West District. He was the director of Ray County Transportation, now known as Direct Transit, from 2002 until he retired in 2014.
He always said it was the best job that he ever had. He was president of the Missouri Public Transportation Association in 2010. He was past president of the Richmond and Fairfax Kiwanis Clubs. Larry had served on the board of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church.
A funeral mass was 10 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2015, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lexington, Mo. Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015, where the rosary was recited at 5:30 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Inurnment will be at a later date in Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond Direct Transit.
