The 15th annual Miss Texas County pageant — featuring new titles this year — is today (Saturday) in Houston.
Held inside the community building at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Fairgrounds, the pageant will crown winners in multiple categories with contestants from Houston, Licking, Raymondville and the surrounding area. The afternoon show is 1 p.m., followed by the evening show at 6 p.m.
In the first show, girls will compete for the tiny, little, petite and pre-teen titles in the categories of interview, talent, party dress and American spirit. New this year is the boys’ competition with seven young men competing for tiny, little and Mr. Texas County.
Fourteen ladies will vie for the titles of Miss Texas County, Miss Southern Missouri and outstanding teen in both categories in the categories of interview, talent, evening wear, on-stage question and lifestyle fitness. New this year during the evening show are Mrs. Texas County and Mrs. Southern Missouri crowns. Six ladies will square off in interview, evening wear and modeling outfit of their choice.
Admission is $6 for adults and $3 ages 6-17. Ages 5 and under are free.
Winners in all categories will advance to compete for state titles next June in Mexico, Mo.
