4-H

The University of Missouri Texas County Extension will host a 4-H family workshop day Saturday, Feb. 20, in Houston.

There will be many different breakout sessions available at the event, called “Making the Best Better.”

It is a day to get 4-H requirements like volunteer orientation, quality assurance, and shooting sports safety taken care of and have a lot of fun while you’re doing it,” said 4-H Regional Youth Development Specialist Janice Emery. “There are classes for the whole family. This is the only opportunity for the year that the shooting sports safety class, the in-person volunteer orientation and the in-person quality assurance classes will be offered. If a child is interested in shooting sports they must attend the one-time shooting sports safety class in order to participate in shooting sports if they have not already done so.”

Available sessions:

•Clover Kids Activities (Kids age 5-7)

The 4-H clover kids program is designed to introduce 5 to 7 year olds to a variety of 4-H experiences.

•True Colors (adults only)

Identifying your own unique personality traits and the personality traits others possess can provide you with insights into different actions, reactions and motivations. Knowing the traits of each of the four “colors,” or personality types, equips you with tools to adjust your communication and approaches to different situations in personal and professional relationships.
