Sales tax revenue in Houston was up in 2015, compared to the prior year, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Revenue from a one-cent sales tax collected by Houston merchants finished the year up 3.1 percent from 2014, according to a year-end report from the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The total was $720,218, which was up $21,476 for the year.

Two quarter-cent sales taxes earmarked for streets, sidewalks and utility work each totaled at about $174,000. That’s up about 4.1 percent on each for the year compared to 2014.

An eighth-cent sales tax for debt retirement on a fire truck totaled $86,996 in 2015. That was up about 4.2 percent compared to 2014.
