Texas County's jobless rate was 6.4 percent in January.

Texas County’s unemployment rate increased eight-tenths of a percentage point in January from the previous month, the Missouri Department of Economic Development said.

The figure was 6.4 percent.

The agency said the civilian work force in the county stood at 9,620, which was down 113 from the prior month. Unemployed stood at 617.

Area counties and their unemployment rates were: Douglas, 6; Howell, 5.8; Shannon, 7.9; and Wright, 5.9. The average in south-central Missouri was 6.2.
