Melba June Hayes, 83, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2016, in Houston.

She was born Jan. 4, 1933, in Raymondville, daughter of Garland and Elva Beasley Patterson.

She enjoyed gardening and yard work. She spent many hours reading and working crossword puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Hayes; two grandchildren; three sisters, Mildred Labee, Wanda Hall and Virginia Tibbetts; and two brothers, Arthur Ray Pattterson and Jimmy Dean Patterson.

Survivors include three sons, Charles Hayes and Ron Hayes of Raymondville and Terry Hayes of Granby; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Bettie Hill, Carol Lomax and Bonnie Price of Licking; and numerous other family members and friends.

Services were Saturday, March 5, at Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Root officiating. Burial was in Boone Creek Cemetery.
