The following are excerpts of reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
•A deputy on March 8 investigated a report of property damage at the Texas County Jail.
The officer watched surveillance video that showed a 22-year-old male inmate (from Plato) throw an object at a primary camera, breaking it. A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor seeking charges against the man
•A deputy was dispatched at about 11:30 p.m. March 7 after a woman reported a prowler on Somerset Lane at Houston. The officer was unable to locate anyone.
•An officer was dispatched at about 9:45 p.m. March 12 regarding a report of a 911 hang-up call at a Highway 17 residence in Success.
Before the officer arrived, contact was made with a man who lives there and he stated he doesn’t have a home phone and law enforcement wasn’t needed.
•A deputy was dispatched at about 8:20 p.m. March 12 to assist Houston police with a foot pursuit on the south side of Sonic on U.S. 63 in Houston. Before the officer arrived, police had apprehended the suspect.
•A 33-year-old Houston woman reported March 7 that two TVs and other items with a total value of $455 had been stolen from her Brushy Creek Road residence. There are no suspects.
•A Licking woman called March 12 to report suspicious activity on U.S. Forest Service land across from her Highway 32 residence.
The woman told an investigating officer that a black pickup truck had been going down a dirt road each night and leaving each morning. She stated she had heard a chainsaw at about 9 each night.
A forestry agent was contacted for further investigation.
•A Willow Springs woman called March 10 to report a tractor on her Highway U residence.
The woman showed it to the officer and stated she didn’t know where it came from. After an investigation, the officer determined it belonged to an electric cooperative that was clearing up power line areas.
The officer advised the woman the company had easement rights wherever there are power lines.
•A 30-year-old Raymondville man called March 1 to report information about a fire that destroyed a two-story house Feb. 18 near Highways 17 and 137 at Yukon.
The man claimed his girlfriend’s sister told him she and her parents had broken a window in the home, poured five gallons of gasoline into the front room and set fire to the structure. A deputy and a state fire marshal each interviewed the sister.
Investigation of the case continues.
•A deputy on March 3 investigated a report of two dogs being shot and killed at a Wagner Road residence at Willow Springs.
A 56-year-old man who lives there told the officer that the two Great Pyrenees had been shot about three weeks apart. He stated the first time it happened, the shot came from a red Chevrolet pickup, and that he had recorded the truck’s license plate number at the time, but had not made any report.
Investigation of the case continues.
•A 70-year-old Licking man reported March 9 that a white 2005 Ford F-350 crew cab pickup valued at $20,000 had been stolen from his Deer Run Drive residence. There are no suspects.
