Graveside services: 10 a.m. Monday, April 18, at Oak Hill Cemetery

Clifford E. Morton, 84, of Houston, Mo., passed away April 14, 2016, at Texas County Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 19, 1932, to Charles and Ida (Gross) Morton.

Clifford grew up and attended school in Houston. He married Lulubelle Douglas on March 7, 1954, and to this union three children were born, Michael, Danny and Rebecca. They later divorced.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Joe, Clarence, Lester, Jim and Herb; and four sisters, Sally, Lucille, Beulah and Bess.

Clifford is survived by his children, Michael Morton, Danny Morton and wife, Veronica, and Rebecca Ellis-Osborne and husband, David; four grandchildren, Jason Morton, Angela Sliger-Eiffler and husband, Jason, Stephenie Sliger and Kimberly Ellis-Nickerson and husband, Lincoln; five great-grandchildren, Zaryn Osborne, Trinity Eiffler, Kaley and Ellie Eiffler and Lilly Nickerson and another one to arrive very soon; and his sister, Bertha Wickline of Rupert, W.V.

Clifford loved horses, riding them and working them to horses and buggies. He was an accomplished auto mechanic all of his life. In 1974, he opened and operated Morton’s Auto Sales and Repair up until his health began to fail. He also farmed beef cattle, owned a restaurant; Morton’s House of Chicken and ran a dozer business for many years.

He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A graveside memorial service was 10 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2016, at Oak Hill Cemetery with Pastor David Barbee officiating. Mr. Morton was cremated under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
