Avis Annettia Barton Wethy Beers, 77, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016, in Springfield.
She was born Aug. 21, 1938, daughter of Virgil Coy “CV” and Goldia Arlena (Gorman) Barton. She and Walter Hayward Wethy were married Feb. 23, 1957. She and Everette Beers were married Jan. 11, 1998. He passed away May 1, 2016.
She spent most of her life taking care of her family. She moved to Springfield eight months ago to live with her daughter’s family and to be closer to two grandsons and her newest grandson, Neil.
She collected cookie jars, John Wayne items and anything Elvis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a twin sister, Mary Loretta Barton; and two brothers, George Coy and Hayward Ray Barton.
Survivors include her children, Walter Wayne Wethy of Rolla, Virgil Harold Wethy of Portage, Mich., Rose Marie Farmer and Debbie Goff of Springfield and Donald Coy Wethy of St. James; a sister, Gladean Helton of St. Clair; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family members.
Memorial services were Monday, May 9, at Fox Funeral Home Chapel.
