Irene Amanda Bennett, 94, daughter of Grover and Martha Ellen (Breeden) Jordan, was born Oct. 23, 1921, in Ink, Mo. She passed away May 5, 2016, at her home in Houston, Mo. She married Teddy L. Bennett on March 16, 1940.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, John Jordan; and two sisters, Hazel Marie Adey and Clares Mitchell.

Survivors include her daughters, Karen Becker and Betty Bennett of Houston, Mo.; son-in-law, Paul Zimmerman, of Houston, Mo.; and numerous, much-loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Irene grew up in the Houston area. After marriage, she and Teddy moved to the Chicago, Ill., area where they lived until Teddy retired from Republic Steel Co. She was member of the Eastern star for more than 50 years and held the position of Worthy Matron.

She moved in 1980 to Houston, where she was active in the Houston Senior Citizens Center. She was an active bingo player and loved going to the casinos.

No services are planned at this time. At Irene’s request, her body was donated for medical research.
