Alvin Lee Leighty, 89, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Kabul Nursing Home.

He was born Oct. 31, 1926, in Huggins, son of Oliver and Ethel P. Zirschky Leighty.

He enjoyed being outdoors and working on his farm. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed being around children and entertaining them. He considered his nieces and nephews as his grandchildren.

He attended Rock Springs Church as long as his health permitted.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; two brothers, Oliver C. Leighty and John D. Leighty; and a sister, Blanche Kephart.

Survivors include three sisters, Effie Nichols of Ypsilanti, Mich., Ida Romo of Buckner and Ina Gillespie of Kansas City; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home. Visitation is 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rock Springs Cemetery.
