Joseph Riley Douglas Holder, 80, of Houston, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

He was born Dec. 29, 1935, in Hot Springs, Ark., son of Joseph and Rebecca Rasberry Holder.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. For many years he helped the Boy Scouts as a scout master. He was a custodian for his the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rhona Laase Holder; his siblings; a stepdaughter, Dorothy; and two great-granddaughters.

Survivors include a son, Al Stokesbary of Jasper, Texas; two daughters, Rhonda Davis of Houston and Eva Scott of Taft, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services with full military honors were Wednesday, June 22, in Pine Lawn Cemetery with Bishop Doc Openshaw officiating. Services were under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
